Dog & Cat Boarding

We are licensed by Plymouth City Council – our licence number is: ABO004.

By using our boarding service you will directly help us shelter and rehome hundreds of unwanted and abandoned animals in your local area. All the proceeds made from our boarding service go straight back to the charity.

We have dedicated staff here at Gables who have great passion for animal welfare and vast experience of working with dogs and cats, especially nervous animals with behavioural problems and/or special needs.

What our Customers Say…

Lorraine & Becky Sanders

To the Gables Farm team Molly and Betsy boarded with you this past weekend and despite the excellent care they received in January, we hate being away without them. Again the service we received was outstanding, from the administrative matters to the care Molly and...

Lorraine & Becky Sanders

Our 5 month old puppies (Molly and Betsy) recently boarded with Gables Farm. This was the first time they had been separated from us and our routine and we were nervous about leaving them. We selected Gables Farm as the staff were both friendly and understanding; they...

My Kate is a 16 year old lurcher cross. She has just spent 10 days boarding at Gables Farm. I was so impressed with the loving care my dear old hound received while in their care. The dogs welfare is always put first and nothing was too much trouble, from making sure...

Mrs Coles & Sox

My cat was 14 when she was first put in boarding. She has been totally spoilt and she doesn't like going in the basket. Gables is lovely, she has been in about 4 times now. I wouldn't pick anywhere else for her to go as she settles down again straight away when she...

Heather & Dave

"Just a few lines to say thank you so much for looking after Bouncer and Ben for the three weeks we were away. Although we had put them both in for a couple of testers you are always a bit apprehensive of leaving them. Ben in particular as he is epileptic and having...

Jane & Terry Rose

Vaccination Checklist

CATS

Your cat must be fully vaccinated i.e. part 1 and part 2 administered, with a vaccination certificate showing part 1 and 2 have been given. Please bring your cat’s vaccination certificate with you when you drop your cat off.

Every cat should be vaccinated against 3 core diseases:

  • feline panleucopaenia (or infectious enteritis)
  • feline herpesvirus
  • feline calicivirus (both causes of “cat flu”)

These diseases can have devastating consequences for a cat and it is easy to prevent them by regular vaccination.

All cat vaccinations should be boosted every 12 months WITHIN THE MONTH IT IS DUE. If you have missed your cats booster due date, you will need to ask your vet to restart your cats vaccination. You will need to have part 1 and part 2 administered before your cat is due to board with us.

DOGS

Your dog must be fully vaccinated i.e. part 1 and part 2 administered, with a vaccination certificate showing part 1 and 2 have been given. Please bring your dog’s vaccination certificate with you when you drop your cat off.

Every dog should be vaccinated against:

  • Canine parvovirus
  • Canine distemper virus
  • Leptospirosis
  • Infectious canine hepatitis

All dogs coming in to board with us must also be vaccinated against kennel cough. This is an extra vaccination that you will need to ask your vet to administer at least 14 clear days in advance of their stay with us.

DHP vaccinations should be boosted every 3 years WITHIN THE MONTH IT IS DUE.

Lepto vaccinations should be boosted every 12 months WITHIN THE MONTH IT IS DUE.

Kennel cough vaccinations should be boosted every 12 months ON THE DATE IT IS DUE.

If you have missed your dogs booster due date, you will need to ask your vet to restart your dogs vaccination. You will need to have part 1 and part 2 administered before your dog is due to board with us.

If the kennel cough annual booster has lapsed over the due date then you get your dog re-vaccinated at least 14 clear days before the day your dog is due to board with us.

Your vet may have a different view on vaccinations but we follow our own vets advice as they have assessed the risks on our site. We have to be strict with these vaccination guidelines as we house un-vaccinated strays, unwanted and abandoned cats and dogs in a separate area on our site which may pose a risk to your pet if it is not fully vaccinated as above.
