I was rescued from a suspected puppy farm where there were over 90 dogs sharing a house and garden. Our living conditions were very poor and we arrived at Gables very matted, smelly and scared.
I am a shy and sensitive boy and it can take me a quite a while to warm up to new people. I usually need to see you over and over again before I am happy to let you touch me. It takes me longer to make friends with men than women. Once you have gained my trust you’ll see I’m very affectionate. I seek reassurance when I am scared, which at the moment is quite a lot of the time. I like to keep my favourite humans close and I will pop my paw on their lap if I need some extra support. I walk nicely on the lead but for the time being I will need to go for walks in quiet places as busy environments will be too stressful for me.
Although I have come from a home with loads of other dogs I am still very worried when I meet dogs that I don’t know. My reactions towards other dogs can be mixed where some dogs I really want to play with, some I’m scared of and others I want to ask them to leave me alone. I’d be much happier as the only dog in the home with the opportunity to go for walks with other calm dogs to help me with my socialisation.
I am looking for a quiet home with someone who has owned nervous dogs before. I am easily overwhelmed and I will need patient, compassionate and understanding people who can support me while I adjust to my new home. I have a lot of love to give and a cheeky character underneath this frightened exterior. I can’t wait to find the right people who can bring me out of my shell. I get very worried when I’m left on my own so my new owners will need to have dealt with separation anxiety with their previous dogs.
