I really appreciate you taking the time to read all about me. My name is Spud and I arrived at Gables along with a large number of other dogs having been found living outside without access to food, water and Shelter.
I was 5 months old when I came to Gables and I had missed out on so much during my socialisation period. This left me very nervous of strangers and it took me quite some time to create bonds. I have come such a long way since my arrival here and I have now got strong friendships with the staff. I’m still shy when I meet new people and I will need gentle meets to gain my confidence over time.
I really enjoy spending time with other dogs and having a dog friend in my new home could really help me to come out of my shell. On the rare occasion I may take exception to another dog but I have many friends here. I love playing with Wheat, he is my best friend.
Another love of my life is toys! I’ll play with all kinds and I love tuggy games. As an active breed I will need 2+ hours of exercise daily but this must be balanced with relaxation time and mental enrichment to keep me from becoming over stimulated in the home.
I have been rehomed before but sadly I was returned because my new owners struggled to cope with my overzealous behaviour. I’d never been in a traditional home before and I found it all a bit over whelming. I was doing lots of physical activity without much rest and this left me tired and frustrated. It will take me time to adjust to a new home and this means my new family will need to be patient and understanding.
I am best suited to a quiet home where I can get the perfect balance of long walks, playtime and time to rest. I would be ok with a very small number of regular visitors but I would be over whelmed by a household where strangers pop in and out on a regular basis. You’ll need to be prepared to slowly work on building up my confidence in new places and around new people.
I am looking for someone who has owned nervous, active breeds before.
